Focus is designed privacy-first. It controls which apps work on campus, during school hours — and it is completely hands-off the moment a student leaves campus or the school day ends. It is access control for the school day, not monitoring or surveillance.
What Focus does & doesn't do
What it does
- Applies the school's app/device policy during class hours, on campus
- Confirms whether a device is on campus (geofence) to switch the policy on/off
- Enables one-click Emergency Lockdown for safety
- Records policy-compliance events for the school's required reporting
What it does NOT do
- Track location off campus or after school hours
- Read messages, browsing history, or personal content
- Operate at home — it switches off at the bell and off campus
- Sell, rent, or share student data — or use it for advertising
The core promise: control that switches off the moment a student leaves campus. Focus only enforces inside the campus geofence during the bell schedule the school sets. That is the design that makes boards, parents, and unions comfortable saying yes.
Built to align with student-privacy law
Focus is designed to support districts' obligations under FERPA and COPPA, operating under the school-consent model in which the district authorizes classroom tools. We are prepared to sign a Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) National Data Privacy Agreement and to take the Student Privacy Pledge.

How we handle data
- Data minimization: we collect only what's needed to apply the school-day policy and produce compliance reports.
- Encryption: data is encrypted in transit and at rest; device commands use a signed, trusted channel.
- Retention & deletion: compliance-event data is retained per your policy and deleted on request or at contract end.
- Access controls: role-based admin access with an audit log of administrator actions.
- Transparency: students see a "why is this blocked?" screen — no silent, hidden control.
